This is an extraordinary blue sequinned jacket from the 1930s, made in France in an art deco influenced design of peacock feather shapes along with geometric and striped borders.

The tiny metallic sequins are in a (very hard to find) iridescent blue which are meticulously attached to pristine black gauze.
The sleeves are in a leg of mutton cut, tapering to a cuff with two press stud closures at the wrist.

The jacket is designed to hang open. There are no clasps or buttons, however I have pinned the jacket closed for the leading photo, as Instagram will not allow me to load a photo of the bust showing exposed breasts!!!
But you could do this also with a brooch if you wanted to bring the lapels together.

The condition of this piece is quite remarkable, and it is possible that it may have never been worn, as there are no signs of wear whatsoever.
It has been kept in a camphor chest for almost a hundred years, and the gauze is strong and true with absolutely no sun fade or flaws.
There are no losses to the sequins that I can see, no loose threads, and no corrosion or discolourations.

At the collar there is a MADE IN FRANCE tag.

This jacket is a small size, and would best suit a size 8-10
