This is a 1970s psychedelic print QANTAS silk scarf featuring a colourful design of Australia’s bird life.
Amongst the colourful swirls there are Lyre birds and parrots, as well as other stylised unknown species.
The QANTAS airways logo is along one side.
Although this is an official QANTAS scarf, I don’t believe it was part of the uniform, as it doesn’t seem to fit in with the time slot when the Emilio PUCCI uniform was in place.
But perhaps it was a gift for first class passengers?
whatever it’s provenance is, it is a visually fascinating relic of aviation fashion history.
The condition is fair, but there are some faults.
Here and there, there is some fading and a couple of bleached out spots in the print. And on one corner there is a small tear in the silk. Please see last image where the white ring is, for the tear.
