This is a classic Jenny Kee design from around 1988 which is a little less identifiable, being of a more geometric abstract design. The hand knit consists of a multitude of multicoloured squares of different patterns edged in black. It is a striking and wonderfully complex pattern in the finest pure wool. The cut of the jumper is super wide, which has a very full fall to the body.
The last two images are from the Jenny Kee gallery, and feature this knit. The photo of JK and her Mother was photographed in 1988 in her (The Strand Arcade) FLAMINGO PARK boutique, and you can see this knit in a slightly different colour scheme on the wall behind.
Condition, is excellent apart from one small stain on the back of one sleeve. Please see photo with a twenty cent piece for size reference. We have tried to remove it carefully, but to no avail. Thankfully, it’s not very noticeable where it is, and certainly doesn’t detract from the bright colourful patterns in the knit.
This is the only flaw in a knit which has no holes, pulls, pilling or snags. And the colours are vibrant and true.
Size. This is a wide and generous cut which is designed to hang with fullness to the body.
Therefore, it would look great on a number of sizes up to 14.
Width, measured from armpit to armpit 78cm
Length of sleeve, measured from sleeve seam to cuff 38cm
Shoulder, measured from collar seam to sleeve seam 28cm
Length, measured from collar to hem 70cm
