This is an extremely rare piece from the iconic WORLD’S END label, by Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren and is from their WITCHES collection from 1983-84.
It displays pure Westwood ingenuity, not only in its radical choice of material for the time, but also for its unconventional cut.
This piece definitely bestows the spirit of “New Wave” style, but the collection itself was inspired by the drawings of American artist Kieth Haring, which is probably evident in its strange pointed cut angular sleeves.
The skirt part of the dress has a draped insert which gives a very asymmetric quality. And there are two wooden toggles which cinch in the waist to create shape.
The iconic World’s End label is positioned at the top of the neckline.
This really is a museum piece. Which we never say lightly.
Condition is excellent. Towelling is not threadbare, and is still soft and supple. There is slight discolouration on the neckline, but no notable stains or marks anywhere else. Label is secure and intact.
Please note. The dress is white, but looks cream in our golden shop interior.
Size is 8- small 10. But would fit an 8 best.
Material is white cotton Towelling.
