This is a wonderfully quintessential example of a 1940s silk scarf, colour, subject matter and also art work. The large silk square features a painterly, washy, ink drawing of a hunting scene, including cameos of suited riders, hounds, and deer, with a trailing lyrical theme of music scores and words. The central linear square depicts an “after the hunt” scene.
Condition is fair. Apart from the fact that there are no holes or snags in the silk, there are areas of ink run, where perhaps it had been washed at some point. Because of the nature of the artwork. It really doesn’t detract too much. And wouldn’t be seen when worn.
