This is a large and high quality cameo brooch of hand carved shell, depicting a lady with flower adorned hair, quite possibly FLORA, the goddess of the flowering of plants. The brooch would be from the mid to late 1800s in 15k gold (stamp at the pin) and includes a security pin and chain.
The back of the cameo shows the speckled natural shell with tones of cream and orange which comes through to the carving on the front.
This is a beautiful and romantic piece. Condition is excellent, any imperfections are due to the natural nature of the material.
