This is an exceptional 1930s silk Chinese jacket featuring a heavily embroidered scenic design of people and buildings in ivory silk thread. The attention to detail is quite remarkable, and each person depicted in the scene has a tiny accent of red for the lips.
There are two covered buttons at the front. And the inside lining is in ivory silk.
The condition of the jacket is excellent. There is no damage to the outer silk, and the embroidery is intact and strong. The inside lining has been repaired under the arms on both sides at some point, as well as the inside of the collar where it had obviously become threadbare, but this does detract at all from the beauty of this amazing piece. And the repairs seem strong and well executed.
