This is an excellent 1980s extra large silk scarf hand printed for “J Miller Art Gallery” Melbourne, art by M Slawcrowski. It features two coral pink stylised koalas amongst a border of powder blue, taupe, and yellow gum leaves. The central blue field is decorated in a pattern of white spots. And the word AUSTRALIA is incorporated into one of the koalas. The design is framed in a very generous ivory border, where the gallery and artist name is inscribed.
The condition is excellent with no stains, there is a small area on the blue ground where there are some very faint streaks of the red in the silk. It’s quite possibly a mark from the process of the hand printing, but difficult to say. The colours are vivid and true, with no fading.
