This is an original HERMÈS silk scarf from the late 1980s featuring a a classic 1974 design by Philippe Ledoux entitled “SPRINGS”, which illustrates the carriage designed and built for a child.
Commissioned by Carolina Bonaparte for the birth of her son to Napoleon, this miniature luxury coach was built by the famous coach builder J. Fr. Tremblay. Dating back to the early 19th century, it is considered a masterpiece of French coach building, and is the inspiration of this illustration.
The condition of the scarf is truly excellent. There are no snags or runs in the silk. There are no stains, watermarks, bleeds or fades, and the colours are vivid and true.
The edges are hand rolled and perfectly intact.
The label is intact stating, MADE IN FRANCE, 100% SILK.
